<\/p>\nThe wife of the world's most wanted drug lord has been sentenced to five years in prison over a dodgy car washing business.<\/p>\n
Rosalinda Gonz\u00e1lez Valencia, known as 'La Jefa', is married to Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera Cervantes – leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), considered the most dangerous drug trafficking organisation in Mexico. <\/p>\n
Rosalinda was arrested in Guadalajara, Mexico, in November 2021 and charged with laundering money for her hubby's gang. A judge ruled that she hid financial transactions between 2015 and 2016, related to the car wash she owned in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. <\/p>\n

Rosalinda's lawyer V\u00edctor Francisco Beltr\u00e1n is appealing the five-year sentence, claiming the prosecution's case stopped short of accusing her of intentionally laundering money for the cartel. He said: "It was not proven that the lady belongs to an organised crime group. It was not proven that she had operated with resources of illicit origin. It was not proven that she had laundered money and it was not proven that she had manipulated the bank accounts."<\/p>\n
The lawyer said she was only found to have not been able to prove the legal origin of the dodgy cash. <\/p>\n

The Mexican Secretariat of National Defence (SEDENA) said after Rosalinda's arrest in 2021 she was snared "for various crimes that, according to the indications, are related to the illicit financial operation of an organised crime group". <\/p>\n
Rosalinda is descended from Mexican cartel royalty. Her family, the Valencia family, formed the Milenio Cartel – a powerhouse in the narco trade up until 2010. The CJNG was formed from the splintering of the Milenio Cartel. <\/p>\n
