Aurora womans strangulation death ruled a homicide

Aurora police are investigating a woman’s death in the 1200 block of South Dillon Way on Friday as a homicide after initial reports that she died as a result of suicide.

Officers responded to reports of a suicide of a 51-year-old woman in the Sable Ridge neighborhood at 8:50 a.m. Friday after a person called 911 to report finding the woman in the garage with apparent strangulation wounds, according to the Aurora Police Department.

Responding officers thought the scene was suspicious and requested homicide detectives and the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office to respond to the incident, according to a department news release.

After an autopsy on Monday, the coroner’s office ruled the woman’s death a homicide.

The woman’s identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s office.
