Pensioner has strip tease from hunk in care home to celebrate turning 102

Rather than requesting a chocolate fudge cake or a soothing rendition of Happy Birthday, a 102-year-old woman decided to celebrate her special day with a strippergram.

Monica Ruddick, from Wolsingham, Country Durham, gave the residents of West Lodge Care Home the shock of their lives when the charismatic dancer walked through the door, and whipped off his kit, in a bid to give his customer a memory she'd never forget.

After arriving back from church, the woman who served in the canteen during World War II, settled in for an epic birthday party, attended by a plethora of her close friends.

With excitement coursing through her veins, she beamed: "I've got the baby oil." As dancer, Adam Price, whose wife volunteers at the home, walked through the door, the pensioner's eyes lit up like Blackpool illuminations, with her strippergram telling Northern Echo: "Apparently she likes a man in uniform. I'm glad to make her day."

After a performance in which Adam gave his all, he bagged the birthday girl's seal of approval, with her saying: "He'll pass." And once the main event was over, the party-goers tucked into some cake and danced the night away.

Monica never had any children, instead dedicating her life to others, looking after her brother until he was 92. Furthermore, her work during the war hasn't gone unnoticed, with the selfless individual helping nuns in a convent.

Since moving into the care home last year, the bubbly individual has served as a positive energy for all her fellow residents. Gillian Hannah, who works in the facility, explained: "From looking after 'naughty boys' in a boys' home to supporting a woman in a TB centre, she worked tirelessly through the war in a canteen and spent 25 years helping nuns in a convent. Monica is a living witness to history, having seen four kings and one queen on the throne.

"Her incredible journey has been fuelled by a spirit of resilience and a unique philosophy of life – to live it to the fullest, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. She firmly believes that laughter is a must in life. Monica wanted a birthday celebration that combined the unexpected – a strippergram for her cheeky side and a visit to the church to celebrate the joy of life."
